I travel a lot and I am constantly inspired by farmland, drainage ponds, rivers, canyons...all things natural.

 I sit by the window on the airplane and I look for the amazing patterns and shapes that one can see from the air. I wonder who lives on the land, did someone die on that land, are these natural occurrences or were they changed by man.  

The colors vary, the landscape changes, and the red embroidery embeds the idea of the land changing and people's lives being changed.

Michele is an artist living in Tulsa, Oklahoma who returned to art after a personal loss and started exploring patterns in nature and object design. Michele has engaged in the use of bold colors to create her artistic renewal using fiber as her paint palette.

Michele works with freeform knitting and crochet and hand-dyed fabrics and created Wild Blue to represent the changing colors of blue in the gardens, meadows and fields of Oklahoma.

Between The Tides

  

My inspiration came because of my many travel experiences around the world. Many shades and hints of color show up in bodies of water depending upon the light, plants and animals, sunlight and salt, and sunrise and sunset.

I have challenged myself to see how nuances of color can evolve using texture, a variety of yarns, different knitting and crochet techniques, and dyeing, painting, and batik. These design tools have merged together to create an intertwined seascape that moves along the shore.

My inspiration for creating this piece came from the many countries I have visited worldwide. Many shades of green have emerged in photos of pastures, botanical gardens, unusual landscapes, tucked away gardens in monasteries, and in the mountainside.

I have challenged myself to see how nuances of one color could evolve using texture, a variety of yarns, different knitting and crochet techniques, and dyeing, painting, and batik. These design tools have merged together to create an intertwined landscape.

I have moments of excitement about color, design, pattern, and texture. Then I take my imagination and search for innovative ways to let color and design impact my art. I search, I play, I find my way.
