Earth, the beautiful "blue marble" as described by the astronauts from deep
space.

Our Earth, so seemingly vast to the early explorers, gets smaller all the time. Modern means of travel have opened up the possibilities of experiencing places we once read about, but never dreamed we would see.  And the luxury of the internet enables us to converse daily with others the World over, with the intimate feeling of talking over the fence rather than to opposite sides of the Globe. And with all this shrinking, it became apparent to me that its high time to begin thinking on a global level rather than country of origin.  So now, whenever I hear Kate Smith singing "God Bless America", I like to sing along with my own new and improved version, "God Bless the Mother Earth", for no matter where any of us may live upon her, she truly is our ultimate"home sweet home".

My absolute favorite Winter song is,Marshmallow World, sung by Johnny Mathis. How I adore waking to a wonderland of snow. But sadly, Winter never quite made it to the Pocono Mountains this year. And, it was sorely missed. Oh, how breathlessly I awaited those "marshmallow" snow days that literally bring us to a screeching halt and force us to cancel everything to gaze upon the full-blown beauty of Winter. So I decided to let my project be a tribute to the Winter that never was. With it, I was able to console myself through the cold, drab months by creating my very own "marshmallow world" wall-hanging. And you know, placed strategically in my kitchen window, it was just about enough!

The piece was crocheted to a 12" brass ring for stability and ease of hanging. Artificial plastic branches for the trees helped to enhance the 3D effect. I might not have been able to go play outside in the snow this year, but I sure had fun making my own inside!

There is a Celtic tune that weaves the tale of a mystical isle that rises out of the ocean to reveal the beautiful Mermaid Queen; who is the Grandmother of the Sea. Perched upon her throne of rocks, her tail glows like a thousand rainbows and her gorgeous silver tresses are adorned with shells and jewels. Her praises are sung and she bestows words of wisdom upon her admirer.

My island is depicted by a large flat stone rising out of a tranquil turquoise ocean.

To express my love of observing all aspects of nature I entitled my wall hanging

        "NATURE WATCHING"

where one can't be certain if you are the seer or the seen!
