Aside from my wonderful family and friends, that make up my world, my crocheting and knitting fill many hours with joy. I love the yarns that are available to us today, I love to combine knitting and crocheting in the same project, I love all aspects of this creative world, but Free Form is my passion. This pillow represents some of my favorite stitches, in my favorite colors in a free form medley.

Margaret has been designing, writing and teaching crochet and knitting for almost 40 years. Author of 16 books on knitting and crocheting and currently working on number 17. She loves all knitting and crocheting but Free Form remains her passion.

Margaret is a mother, grandmother and new great grandmother, living in a small town in New York, and thoroughly enjoying her growing family.

I see a kaleidoscope of color, an ever changing, constantly spinning world that radiates from a core, my family, to the wider, outside world.

My children and grandchildren, each day a new surprise, pure joy.

My friends, the circle is ever growing, more joy.

My work, bringing me to heights that I never dreamed of and the ability to connect to my world in amazing ways.

My garden, in summer, fall, winter but especially in the springtime, pure inspiration.

Outside my little world though, I see dark clouds of war, unrest, prejudice, poverty, strife and man’s inhumanity to man, every where.

It humbles me, I am blessed.

When the challenge first came to our list, I was facing a deadline as usual, and thought that I did not have time for this. But -- I really wanted to be part of it, so I made the time. The challenge was to interpret the elements, Fire, Earth, Water and Air, the only "rule" was that each piece had to have a gold thread to show unity. I started with "Fire", which went fairly easily and quickly. Next I did "Earth", wow I thought, I can do this. "Water" came next, and surprise, surprise, my piece turned into a fish, all by itself :-). I only had "Air" to do, and I was stumped. How on earth do you portray air with crochet stitches. Then I thought, air can be shown in the form of storms. Once my mind went that way, I had less trouble. The "Air" piece took me the longest time, and I liked it least. I saved the 3 D ornament for the Tree of Life for last. I was quickly running out of time, I finally finished, took the pictures and sent them off to Myra, to become part of this amazing work.
