Young and vibrant follow the sun

Aged and mature stay looking to the east

Sunflowers Bees aplenty Loved by bees. 

Not one bee not one flower but

Thousands as far as the eye can see

Based on Art Nouveau window is sunflowers

Set on a carved framed mirror to play with lights you would see in a window, flowers and bees.

My story behind my art piece happens when a friend brought me back a bookmark from her time in Spain after completing the Camino de Santiago.

The bookmark was of Gaudi’s Casa Battlo. The building fascinated me. I researched it and fell in love with his architecture. I knew I would do “something” with this notion at some point in time. 

2020 began with the selection of topics, votes and the topic developed. With it was a fire in me - Gaudi exudes ‘brilliance’ and my desire to try to represent his brilliance and my fire in crochet and knitting.

My version is the colour wheel.  

The pantel colour of the year; Coral and on the colour wheel it’s Contrast colour would be Turquoise/ Teal. 

My colour wheel incorporates a range of colours without using the 3 Primary Colours. 

With a range of various ‘colour wheels of flowers’.

The Rock Pool

The theme is Ocean / the colour of water.

This Freeform 3D and textural creation it shows the viewer the varying levels within a rock pool.

The 3D wave at the top is to gain movement of the water entering a rock pool. There is also, the play of the action of water ‘on the surface’. This wave moves you down into the bottom of the rock pool to explore what is there.

The focus is on the interplay of light and the iridescence of blues and greens, as seen in the tropical rock pools around The Great Barrier Reef of Queensland Australia.

A range of textural stitches in knitting and crochet was using fibres such as wool (hand dyed, pure and blended)  acrylic and cotton has been used and set in a silver frame.
