Ferris Wheel of Color

Ferris wheel, color wheel, rainbow in the sky

its panoramic spin in deep shades of light.

Encircling inhabitants in revolving motion

1893 Chicago World’s Fair, its origin.

Power to gravity an engineer’s feat,

America’s challenge to Eiffel’s tower.

Now wheels illuminate in elevated hues, 

and decorate city centers in global locales.

Aerial winds weave through its synchrony 

with spoke-like beams in ever-moving speed.

A far-reaching vantage and wavelength patterns lift one’s spirits in awakened iridescence.

A contemporary Ferris wheel inspired my project, and freeform crochet, bead crochet and bead weaving encompass my artwork.
