Anansi Meets Midas
Many cultures have
the tradition of a Trickster in their lore; Loki in Norse mythology, Raven
& Coyote in Native American tales, B’rer Rabbit in American folktales.
I like Anansi, the
tricky spider from Africa. I believe a Trickster would be tempted by the Golden
Touch of King Midas, sure that the inherent trickiness would prevail over the
unfortunate outcomes others’ have.
My piece represents
the result of Anansi meeting King Midas—the outcome is still in doubt.
Crocheted with
metallic crochet cotton.
